The 2021 District V American Legion Baseball Season will begin on Monday, June 14th for both the Senior and Junior divisions. The Senior division is comprised of 10 teams and will play 14 league games over a four-week regular season. The DIctrict V Senior Tournament will begin on Monday, July 12th with the winner advancing to the New York State Senior Tournament being held in Saugerties starting on July 25th. The District V Junior division is made up of 6 teams and will play 15 league games over the course of a five-week regular season. The District V Junior Tournament will begin on July 22nd with the winner advancing to the New York State Junior Tournament at Murnane Field in Utica starting on July 29th. Due to the compressed regular season schedule this summer, all 10 teams in the Senior division, as well as all 6 teams in the Junior division, will qualify for post-season play for the first time in District V league history.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the SUNY Polytechnic Institute baseball field will not be available for games or practices this summer. Therefore, both the Whitestown Post Senior and Junior teams will be playing home games at DeLutis Field in Rome for the 2021 American Legion Baseball season. The Senior team will play on Fields 1 & 2 while the Junior team will play on Field 4. Please note the following regulations at DeLutis:
- Dogs are not allowed (no matter what size).
- The concession stand will not be available this summer. Fans are allowed to bring in coolers, food and non-alcoholic beverages. Grills are not permitted.
- Fans and players are required to follow all COVID-19 rules set forth by the state and county.
PLAY BALL! The National Headquarters of the American Legion has announced that baseball will be reset for normal play for the 2021 season, culminating with the World Series in Shelby, NC in August. The Department of New York has also sent information to all Districts within the state with instructions to start the season after the conclusion of the High School baseball season. For District V, league games will start on June 14th. As more information is received, this website will be updated, including tryouts for both the Senior and Junior teams.
The 7th Annual Zachary Hunter Memorial Scramble Golf Tournament has been scheduled for Saturday, June 26th, 2021 at Hidden Valley Golf Club. Please click on the Golf Outing tab in the menu on the left for more details.
Unfortunately, the American Legion Baseball program for the 2020 season has been canceled for the Department of New York, including all Senior and Junior teams in District V. Below is the email that was sent on Saturday evening, May 9th from the New York Baseball Chairman, with the official notification. At the end of the email is the letter that Mr. Mayfield refers to (in PDF format) that was sent to all Departments by the American Legion National Organization issuing the decision.

Make sure this information gets to all of your coaches and managers. I am asking that our Department Adjutant, Jim Casey please forward the attached letter to all in the Department of New York.
