The District 5 American Legion website is now part of the revamped New York State Department American Legion Baseball website:

In the dropdown menu under Senior Division, scroll down to D5. Whitestown Post is in the Navy Division for the 2019 season.

- Each team will play each team within their division twice and each team in the other division once
- Each team will play a total of 18 regular season league games 
- The top four teams in each division qualify for the District V Playoffs starting on Sunday, July 14th 
- First and second round games will be played at higher seeds; remainder of games will be played at Murnane Field 
- Crossover format: #1 Navy vs #4 Air Force; #1 Air Force vs #4 Navy; #2 Navy vs #3 Air Force; #2 Air Force vs #3 Navy
- District V Playoffs is a double-elimination format (7-inning games)   

American Legion Baseball National Playing Regulations Rule 1.B. Bat Rule:

1. Wood bat. The bat must be a smooth, rounded stick not more than 2 3/4 inches in diameter at its thickest part nor more than 42 inches in length. An indentation in the end of the bat up to 1 inch in depth is permitted (cupped bats).
2. Non-wood bats. Metal, ceramic, composite or graphite bats may be used provided they do not exceed 36 inches in length and the maximum diameter is 2 5/8 inches.
3. Any non-wood bat must have the BBCOR certification code marked on the barrel of the bat.
4. Any non-wood bat that does not display the approved certification mark or in the umpire’s judgment has been altered shall be removed from the game, and the player and team manager shall be ejected.

The Whitestown Post 1113 American Legion Baseball Team is sponsoring the 9th Annual Daniel LaGasse Memorial American Legion Baseball Tournament on Saturday, June 9th and Sunday, June 10th at SUNY Polytechnic Institute. Dan played three seasons for Post 1113 baseball from 1998-2000 and unexpectedly passed away in November of 2009 at the very young age of 28. In addition to the tournament, a scholarship in Dan's name will also be awarded to a current player at the Annual Whitestown Post American Legion Baseball end-of-season awards banquet.

Inside the Numbers

Listed below are some interesting "making it to college baseball and the pros" probability figures from the NCAA. These make good food for thought for student-athletes that are more interested in sports than the classroom.
  • Less than six in 100 (5.6%) of high school senior baseball players will go on to play NCAA baseball.
  • Less than eleven in 100 (10.5%) of NCAA senior baseball players will get drafted by a Major League Baseball (MLB) team. 
  • Approximately one in 200 (0.5%) of high school senior baseball players will eventually be drafted by a MLB team.
